Summary of how an author uses figures of speech

An author uses figures to set the mood. How????? If there is an allegory there has to be some hint so the mood is suspicion or mysterious. Also when an author uses an apostrophe and he starts to talk with his dead mother you get the feeling of him being creepy. Also with imagery, as reader he will get more into it because he can feel it he can smell so it just as if he was ther. When in the book ENZO its kind of a personification because it gives human traits to a dog whereas in real life you don't know what your dog is thinking. With metaphor and simile it gives the readers a spark instead of just saying in a normal phrase.

MATH SONG

Our math song is going to be about recursive routines

Poem and why I liked it.

 The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;        5

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,        10

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.        15

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I liked this poem because it a metaphor to
real life. What frost is trying to say is that
he took the less taken road the in LIFE by
studying literature and writing. Also he
said that he wish he could have done both
WHY????.

Also because he has written many other
poems and is known throughout the world,
and this piece is considered one of his master poems.

Final Draft PSA Essay

Persuasive Essay

In 2011, various groups of people hacked into the Japanese company, SONY. All the online programs SONY had were hacked by unscrupulous groups like Lulzsec (which in native Australian means laughing at your security). Some of the networks are PlayStation Network and Sony online entertainment. Only in the UK it cost them 150 million pounds to pay the bill. If there were any case of fraud those numbers could soar up.

According to hacker’s tweets, SONY did not have a very secure protection for their users. It was relatively easy to access the users information, as SONY did not encode it. As a result, the personal information of more than 77 million users of SONYS online entertainment and PlayStation Network were stolen.
The personal information that was robbed included dates of birth, email accounts, passwords, debit and credit card numbers.

Sony apologized to its customers. But they also have offered to build real confidence for their customers. In its attempt to regain public confidence, SONY has installed many safety systems like a firewall that cost 2 million dollars to install. Also, it has hired a new security manager as well as another highly trained group of people that specializes in hackers.

The consequences of this security breach have been catastrophic for some people. For example, Mr. James Cherrick had recently invested most of his savings in SONYS stock. With this hacking, the value of the stock dropped down to half its price causing a significant loss. Mr. Cherrick now has filed for bankruptcy. Mr. Cherrick he is now poor just because a couple of people felt like making the world a worst place for everyone. Also SONY has been very affected. Experts say that it might take up to 10-20 years before customers have faith in SONY.

Why did those groups hack SONY?

They wanted to make easy money and should be ashamed of themselves. They should be spending their time working and not figuring how to ruin other people’s lives. Another theory is that the hackers are seeking revenge because they are the sons and daughters of former SONY employees that did not get what they considered a deserved promotion. What really happened was that the other employees worked way harder.

Poster evaluation

The hacking of Sony.
That the hacking of Sony and it hurt the company
They tried to say that people misuse technology and their is many thing to do.
They did it by what happened first.
Yes because it showed us the many uses of technology and people chose to ruin people lives.
I would say to make a page and put this there.

Deforestation
That we are doing damage to the earth.
They'd made us see what people to and just waste paper.
It had no pattern.
No because it only showed people doing stuff that is wrong.
They should email this to green peace and see if they publish it in there magazine.

World hunger.
That it is the biggest problem.
They should poor children dying.
It was photo and writing
Yes it was amazing it got me thinking that I need to do more for the children.
I would go to very rich county and show this video and ask for help.

Animal abuse
That people mistreat animals
That photos are very impacting.
Photo and voice and little facts
Kind of because it had no facts.
Put it in info in the dog shop.

Dog fighting
That people do it but there doing it against there will.

Persuasive Essay

In 2011, various groups of people hacked into the Japan based company: SONY.
All the online programs SONY had were hacked by unscrupulous groups like Lulzsec (which in native Australian means; laughing at your security). Some of the networks are Play station Network and Sony online entertainment. Only in the UK it will cost them 150 million pounds to pay the bill. According to hacker’s tweets, SONY did not have a very secure protection for their users. It was relatively easy to access the users information, as SONY did not encode it. As a result, the personal information of more than 77 million users of SONYS online entertainment and play station was stolen.
The personal information robbed included dates of birth, email accounts, passwords, debit and credit card numbers.

Sony has apologized to its customers. But they also have offered to build real confidence for their customers. In its attempt to regain public confidence, SONY has installed many safety systems like a firewall that cost 2 million dollars to install. Also, it has hired a new security manager as well as another highly trained group of people who specialize in hackers.

The consequences of this security breach, has been catastrophic for some people. For example, Mr. James Cherrick had recently invested most of his savings in SONYS stock. With this hacking, the value of the stock dropped down to half its price causing a significant loss. Mr. Cherrick now has filed for bankruptcy. Poor Mr. Cherrick he is now poor just because a couple of people felt like making the world a worst place for everyone. Also SONY has been very affected. Experts say that it might take up to 10-20 years before customers have faith in SONY.

Why did those groups hack SONY?
They wanted to make easy money.  Those people should be ashamed of themselves. They should be spending their time working and not spending their days figuring how to ruin other people’s lives.
Others say that the hackers are seeking revenge because they are the sons and daughters of parents who said " oh these guys (multinational companies) just robbed me from the promotion”. What really happened was that the other guy worked way harder. Now, their sons are doing this to get back at the people who supposedly did something to their family.

Video

Analysis of video. I saw a video that showed this man running through a desert and a man says the guy running uses Nike but the guy who is carrying the 50 pound camera uses Adidas.
Analysis: it really funny because the guy who is carrying the most weight but is never shown wears Adidas. Saying that Adidas is for real men and Nike is  for sissy.

POV is from the camera men saying that if they use nike they couldn't do their job adidas have the toughest   cleats. pathos they have somone as they do their job tell you that adidas don't give enough into their products so that they work for the camera man as he does his job.

Rules for games

,The game is using jeopardy. People will chose a preposition and a number (100,200,300,400,500) the higher the number, the harder the question, but you also get more points if you answer a higher question. Ex, if you choose at 300, we will ask you a question that is the 3rd hardest at question. If you get it right, you get 300 points, but if you get it wrong you lose 400 points.

Possible ways of listing our problem

1.We could tell a story: pro it would have a lot of facts we could interview people. Cons Most of what is put out for the public usually isn't what happened and to interview someone  that had something to do with the dilemma and that said the truth, it could be hard.
2. Showing Facts and photos of shocking images. Pro: photos really stick in a person mind and even more if they have facts to prove that this photo did happen. Con: Impacting pictures will be hard to find.
3. Physical model. Pros: we could show how the hacking took place and the distance (scale) and how fast it happened. Cons: you have to know how to use a computer because if not it will take a long time.
4.We could do a documentary. Pros: put an experts opinions, providing a big picture. Cons without many details. Long and complicated
5. Same scenario but different company/country. Pros: differences between the companies  and why they didn't get hacked. Cons: there public is different so there could be many variables.

I chose #1 because the it has a lot of cons and if we look in the right places I think I can Find the truth

TO get there by car yo have to take 100 street

Sentences

I don't like this author because he uses to much digressive time and goes on for hours about something that is not relevant.
The best part in the book is when there is suspense because there is so much tension and you don't know what is going to happen.
The best case of symbolism is in the hunger games when Katniss the mocking jay is the face the rebellion.
Only good authors know how to foreshadow without giving what is going to happen next.
Flashbacks are usually very important because it tells about the characters life before the incident happened.
When the author starts to feel a certain way because he entered to a certain place that how the atmosphere is and how it affects the character.
Plot twist is hard to do because is has to be a possible twist to the story but it has to be slightly extreme so that there is excitement.
Progressive time couldn't find definition

Why is the wild horses vid persuasive

1 because it show's some scene where there mistreating those poor animals. Also they say things like they tie us to our american past which means if you don't care you're not a good American. They say were exactly where to go to and  it makes them sound very expert on the topic. They assume your cooperation so you feel like you have to help.

Essay

People need to be better educated and studies have shown that a school that has a lot of computer and only uses computer had a better IQ that the ones that don't have any computer. Why? Because let’s say I have a computer and my friend doesn't, I have a question I can just Google it my friend has to find an encyclopedia and find it and waste half an hour. Better technology means better grade and it will be easier to get that grade. Kids now learn to right faster because they don't have to do only on paper but on a tablet which is easy to carry and you can do it as many times as you want without any shortage.

People should care about this because it could help them and their children too. This is mostly directed at parents because they haven’t learned how to use a computer, so first parents should learn how to use it. Technology is getting from bigger to bigger each time and the older generations have to start to adapt to it. IT’S EVOLUTION!!!!!! An analogy to technology is that were (younger generations) are natives to this kind of technology while older generations are immigrants.

15 % of parents don’t know how to use a computer with that also comes that there is no computer safety for their children (10% of the parents live in rural areas). Also company's that were extra tecnhological made more of a profit than other companies. This change shouldn't be painful it might be hard at first but then it will be easier than before and you will make more money in less time. But don't go over board because there are people who can no only have a conversation throgh an electronic device. The best you can do is have a between with the technology and non technology.

First I graded Roberto and this is what I put:
I think you described Count dracula very well and also the setting which was a war in the 1200 in europe also I think you could go into why he opposed who he opposed and who where his friends and why. If you read a book of vampires what does this guy have to do witha a vampire, you didn't explain that.

Then I graded Tomy Urrutia and this is what I put:
I would say this deserves a four. Something I would add is more information about the setting like what was the arena like or what was district 12 like. I for example, would add that they lived in place where the food was scarce but just outside the fence it was plentiful with food but the capitol was afraid the would run away so it had a fence. Other than that you get 2 thumbs up

Worst audience behavior

The worst audience behavior is: talking/shouting because you can't concentrate on the speaker. Also you can't hear the speaker so being a good audience is hard. Also sometimes if it's a plat and they already saw It they give the final part away.
But the worst kind is when they shout boo at the speaker because it's disrespectful. Another kind is when the just start shouting randomly about their personal life or their problems with their girlfriend.

If I were a god

If i were a god I would: make world peace because if there is world peace there is no corruption. If there is world peace there are no slaves. If there is world peace there would be no wars. If there's world peace the world would be perfect. But with world peace life would get a little boring but that's nothing compared to what world peace would do.

Dear Suzanne Collins,

I loved your book the hunger game s. What I liked the most is that your future could happen but at the same time it probably won't. One thing I would add is where Panem was located in today world and where in today world the districts where because people want to know.
I love the way Katniss is unsure of the act of Peeta of being nice. Also the names like tracker jackers or jabberjays are very creative and fun to say.

character development Peeta

I read The Hunger Games. Peeta Mellark is the main character with Katniss Everdeen. Peeta was this bakers son and always had something to eat (even if it was a small portion) unlike Katniss, were as she had to fight to get if even a handful of rice. Peeta was in love with katniss though they had never talked and when he got on the train to the capitol I think his plan was to try to save katniss because he couldn't live without seeing her. He changed throughout the book from the bakers son, to the guy who will fight to death until someone he loves is safe.

Some of the elements of plots that set the mood was the exposition because it showed how cruel the people of the capitol  were, and how much the people in the districts suffered. The resolution was also very good because it had a lot of suspense and it got you to think that Katniss nor Peeta were going to survive.

When Katniss started thinking about Peeta something usually happened like when the manager of the hunger games said that if both of the last two standing children where from the same  district the would be allowed to live, Katniss was thinking about where Peeta was.

I think in the end of this book they both hate who they become like this girl who has everything and doesn't need to fight for it. I think she liked being someone who had to fight to live. Peeta to because he loved Katniss so much that if Katniss isn't happy he isn't happy

Once upon a time there was a boy named Peter Smith. He was a nice boy; good at sports and he was popular. However, when he got to school everything went bad; he sucked at school and Bob Murphy didn’t help. Bob Murphy was a nerd who loved to bother Peter because he thought he was dumb. Peter had tried really hard to be good at school but he just couldn’t. He had a tutor and that's why he hadn’t been failing any class but the tutor recently died of a heart attack.

Poor Peter, what was he going to do? To make things worse, his parents are kind of cuckoo and he had to take care of them because they were very old and couldn’t afford a nurse. His uncle paid Peter’s tuition in the best school possible, the CNG.  The uncle only paid because he never helped in the past and now feels guilty and wants to make up for it by paying for his brother’s sons’ education. However, he is not nice to Peter.

At school, most people were normal.  They had all a 3 as an average, but there was always the kid who almost failed each year but managed to pass, that was Peter. Most people lived in big houses but Peter lived in a small home with his old and sick parents.

Peter only got cheered up when he saw his best friend Jimmy Delano (They became friends because Peter got in a fight when he was very young, and Jimmy backed him up). Jimmy never bothered Peter because he knew his situation and his DEEP DARK SECRET (He knew it because he bothered Peter once, and saw how Peter turned into a monster/human but he managed to turn back to human).  Since that incident, Jimmy is very careful about the way he treats Peter.

One day after lunch, Bob Murphy was being more of a jerk than usual and he was bothering Peter and as they were reaching their math class, it finally got to him. He became a monster!!! (He king of looked like the cookie monster from  sesame street just that very scary). Zoom he ran fast, he started to destroy all the homework in CNG, everyone asked themselves why homework? And then Jimmy said that Bob bothered Peter all the time about his bad homework. Peter didn’t stop after CNG, he went after all the homework in all the schools of South America. Homework was disappearing, and after only five minutes there was no more homework left in the whole world.

After Peter the monster destroyed all the homework, he went back to CNG and made his den/home in the math room. Everybody was afraid of him, he was so angry his skin turned blue. Each day he attacked a teacher but Bob Murphy was the one who suffered the m0ost. Peter made sure that he paid back for the 3 years he had been his victim. After 2 days after Peter had taken over the school, the CIA and the FBI arrived at the school. After planning what to do for hours, someone finally shot the monster but it the bullets melted as they touched Peter’s skin. What were they going to do? He couldn’t be touched by metal because he was so hot that the metal melted. The president of the FBI said that maybe he couldn’t melt plastic. Everyone laughed and someone yelled out: "what are we going to do, make bullets of plastic? Hahahahahahah, he replied,  "No we are going to hit him with the strongest tranquilizer in the world". At dawn, the snipers were ready to shoot,  they took different places around the Math room. The monster had woken up and as soon as he was about to eat another teacher, the first plastic tranquilizer hit him. At first, Peter only felt a little dizzy, but after 20 shots he had past out. As soon as the CIA and FBI agents got 15 feet away from the monster, he started to rise and went to the Heaven of Homework, where he was punished by Esob; the leader of the homework gods, for his actions of destroying HOMEWORK, now no one would worship them by doing HOMEWORK.

Character development

Character development is when the authors tell you about the characters. For example if you put an ordinary name and an ordinary life you don't think any thing is going to happen because he is just a normal boy that's character devolment.
Conflict with th main character that van tell you if the character has a problem with something like school or work or at home.
Setting if it's at a beach I think it is either going to be a fun with almost no plot or conflict or it has a shark in it but if in the woods at night it more likely to be a scary story.

The authors do that because there's a character who does nothing it almost invisible and BOOM he let's say goes and fights for his friend the author made us think that he wasn't important to give us the small surprise. That's why the author do that,

1st idea. Homework and how hard it is to do and how smart people bothering you.
Characters me and my best 7 friend, and 1 or 2 nerds and a monster.
Setting. A middle school but when it's attacked by the monster it becomes a military training base so that the military can train on how to fight a real monster.
Problem. One problem is that homework is hard and that people call you stupid.  Problem number 2 is that a person gets so bothered about homework, that he becomes a monster and destroys all kinds of homework in the world and then starts to destroy CNG middle school and the CIA and FBI come to stop him.
They shoot the monster with a tranquilizing dart and he rises to the gods of homework to be sanctioned but there is no trace of homework so there is no more homework anymore.
1 monster 2 how people lived 3 social structure 4 a invented god

2nd idea. Gossip and how people invent bad stories about you because they think its funny.
Characters, some people who made up the gossip, the one who the gossip was about and the gossip god.
Setting. Room M4
Problem.  A boy gets so annoyed about the gossip about him that he calls the Gossip God and the king of the gods, ESOB says that he will talk to the people that are messing with him. The gossipers don’t believe ESOB so he has no choice but to curse them in the worst way, that is to make them mute.

3rd idea. A vegan cafeteria at a middle school in France.
Problem, the kids love all kinds of food, cheese, pastries, escargot but they are in a vegan school.
Characters. French snob students who love food.
Setting.  Middle School in Paris.
French kids arrive to vegan school; they don’t like it so they ask the gods for help. The oldest boy tells the god that he will travel to the end of the world to find the best and most delicious meat and cheese in the world to show that being vegan is stupid.  Zeus responds that why go through all that work, he says, why don’t you ask them to change the menu?
No weird travels have to take place.

Completely imaginary observed or knowing people and touch of you in them

Who is the hero

Make them very in-depth by different characteristics
What is there ambition and or talent
what is there deep dark secret
  Give them a best friend
Worst enemy and why
Also what we carry in our pocket
The names are important to what there are
Bring character to life make action

They do that so that the author can choose what they want us to feel about the certain character

That which and who

That is has a broader span of what it could be like it could be referring to a "type of person" (quotation from Englishplus.com). Which is likely only to be used when refering things. Who us the exact opposite it is only used when referring to people.

WHO. used incorrectly, who is that. used correctly, who could be  that person who is looking so much at us
THAT. used incorrectly, that is not cool. used correctly, that was a heck of a ride
Which used correctly, hey give me my game back which I was going to give to my brother but he already left beacause your taking so long to give it to me. USED INCORRECTLY, which of them is your girlfriend

A run on sentence is a one where the ideas could be differnt sentence like.

I like pizza, the girls lost the game, and the coach is mad.

compound complex sentences are good sentences that are not run on doing the ex drom above it would be.
I like pizza. The girls lost the game. The coach was mad.

One of the problems that occurs during middle school is gossip. Because they make lies that hurt mentally and then more people get on the joke not knowing how much it can actually do. An other one is homework because were getting to the grades that if you don't do your home its really bad unlike in elementary that you can just make up for it. Something that goes with homework is grades because now its important because there is A.P college and it gets really stressing.

Summer Reading

I would change the title to OUT WITH because it could show where he went but the best name is the boy in the striped pajamas

Over the summer I read the book The Boy In the Striped Pajamas.

The book is about a boy named Bruno, Bruno’s father is a Nazi general, but Bruno doesn't really know. At first he hates the house and the area where they live, he thinks it's called out with, but I think the real name is Auschwitz the concentration camp. Because there is nothing to do, Bruno starts to explore outside, near the people in the striped pajamas. After an hour of walking he sees a dot and it's a boy his age!!! They start talking and become friends; after weeks they are closer than with his friends back in Berlin. When Bruno notices that his friend Shmuel is very thin, he starts to bring him food. Brunos mom hates out with and says that Bruno, his sister and she are leaving back for Berlin as soon as possible. Their father will come with them in a year or two. But Bruno want's to be so badly with his new friend Shmuel, even if it's just one day. Bruno goes under the fence and Shmuel shows him how horrible that place is, because Bruno didn't believe him. As it starts to rain, the Nazi's organize them in a line. Bruno thinks they're putting them in a air tight space so that they will not get wet. They never realized it was a gas chamber and it would be their last  breath. Obviously, Bruno died.

The main characters are:
1. Bruno
2.Shmuel Jewish friend that is the concentration camp
Secondary Characters are:
1.Brunos dad because thanks to him they had to go to out with
2.Gretel Bruno’s sister
3.luitenant Kolter he hurt Shmuel the most (physically)
4.Brunos Mom also like Bruno at the star she hate out with but hates until the end unlike Bruno.

Setting it's in a big house next to the concentration camp of Auschwitz Concentration Camp that was in Germany. This happens during World War 2. The customs are rich European.

Plot.
Exposition: Bruno and that he is moving to out with because his dad got a promotion from Hitler.

The hook of the book for me was that he didn’t know why there were people on the other side of the fence and they were all wearing the same striped pajamas. He wanted to be with them because there were children on that side of the fence but not on his side.

Rising action: This is when Bruno explores outside of the house because there is nothing to do inside. After exploring he sees a speck farther away as he gets close he sees it’s a scrawny boy.

Climax: This when he meets Shmuel and they become friend forever.

Falling Action: Bruno comes every day to talk to him; Bruno starts to notice that his friend is starving so he starts to bring food for Shmuel and sits down and they talk for hours and can’t play

Resolution: this is when Bruno’s mom decide this is no place for a child to grow up so there moving back to Berlin before he leaves he visits Shmuel one last time and he finds a spot where he can go under and he can finally play with his only friend but before he can they take him to the gas chambers.

Something Interesting about me

Something Interesting about me is that i have moved 9 times between 5 countries and never to the same school. I think that it has had an impact on how I see the world and how the laws will impact me, I think it is good because  I get the perception of many cultures. The hard part about the moving is that you lose all you're friends and when you arrive you have to start from scratch  and you're lost. Well all I can say is that I don't no anyone who has moved as much as I have.
