Summer Reading

I would change the title to OUT WITH because it could show where he went but the best name is the boy in the striped pajamas

Over the summer I read the book The Boy In the Striped Pajamas.

The book is about a boy named Bruno, Bruno’s father is a Nazi general, but Bruno doesn't really know. At first he hates the house and the area where they live, he thinks it's called out with, but I think the real name is Auschwitz the concentration camp. Because there is nothing to do, Bruno starts to explore outside, near the people in the striped pajamas. After an hour of walking he sees a dot and it's a boy his age!!! They start talking and become friends; after weeks they are closer than with his friends back in Berlin. When Bruno notices that his friend Shmuel is very thin, he starts to bring him food. Brunos mom hates out with and says that Bruno, his sister and she are leaving back for Berlin as soon as possible. Their father will come with them in a year or two. But Bruno want's to be so badly with his new friend Shmuel, even if it's just one day. Bruno goes under the fence and Shmuel shows him how horrible that place is, because Bruno didn't believe him. As it starts to rain, the Nazi's organize them in a line. Bruno thinks they're putting them in a air tight space so that they will not get wet. They never realized it was a gas chamber and it would be their last  breath. Obviously, Bruno died.

The main characters are:
1. Bruno
2.Shmuel Jewish friend that is the concentration camp
Secondary Characters are:
1.Brunos dad because thanks to him they had to go to out with
2.Gretel Bruno’s sister
3.luitenant Kolter he hurt Shmuel the most (physically)
4.Brunos Mom also like Bruno at the star she hate out with but hates until the end unlike Bruno.

Setting it's in a big house next to the concentration camp of Auschwitz Concentration Camp that was in Germany. This happens during World War 2. The customs are rich European.

Plot.
Exposition: Bruno and that he is moving to out with because his dad got a promotion from Hitler.

The hook of the book for me was that he didn’t know why there were people on the other side of the fence and they were all wearing the same striped pajamas. He wanted to be with them because there were children on that side of the fence but not on his side.

Rising action: This is when Bruno explores outside of the house because there is nothing to do inside. After exploring he sees a speck farther away as he gets close he sees it’s a scrawny boy.

Climax: This when he meets Shmuel and they become friend forever.

Falling Action: Bruno comes every day to talk to him; Bruno starts to notice that his friend is starving so he starts to bring food for Shmuel and sits down and they talk for hours and can’t play

Resolution: this is when Bruno’s mom decide this is no place for a child to grow up so there moving back to Berlin before he leaves he visits Shmuel one last time and he finds a spot where he can go under and he can finally play with his only friend but before he can they take him to the gas chambers.

  1. This is a good summary. You forgot to add the connections you made with the book, though. HINTS for writing-breaking up paragraphs, run on sentences, strong verb choices, punctuation.
